Legalization of documents
Consular legalization is to establish and certify the authenticity of signatures on documents and acts and their compliance with the laws of the host state. Consular legalization confirms the validity of documents and acts in international communication.
The functions of consular legalization are performed by:
a) abroad - consular offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
b) in the Republic of Uzbekistan – Consular Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Consul accepts documents and acts certified by the authorities of the consular district or coming from these authorities for legalization.
The Consular Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan legalizes documents and acts emanating from foreign organizations and institutions and legalized by foreign diplomatic missions or consular offices accredited in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the presence of specimen signatures and stamps of these foreign diplomatic missions.
The consular administration also legalizes documents and acts emanating from organizations and institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and intended for presentation abroad.
Documents and acts that contradict the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan or may be harmful to the interests of the state or issued in violation of the instructions governing the execution of documents intended for use abroad or contain information discrediting the honor and dignity of citizens are not subject to legalization.
The originals and copies of the following documents can not be legalized either: passports, documents of party membership, trade union tickets, workbooks, military tickets, originals of educational documents within the republican sample, driver’s licenses, belonging to estates and religions and other documents on property withdrawn from civil circulation.
“For the legalization of documents the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan provides for the following consular fees:
For the legalization of powers of attorney for property management, financial and other transactions:
- from citizens of Uzbekistan - 20 US dollars;
- from foreign citizens - 100 US dollars.
For the legalization of civil registry office documents, on work experience, on education (if there are bilateral agreements on the mutual recognition of diplomas and certificates of education):
- from citizens of Uzbekistan - 10 US dollars;
- from foreign citizens - 50 US dollars.
For the legalization of invoices, certificates, bills of lading, invoices, certificates, other documents of a commercial nature, etc.
- from citizens of Uzbekistan - 20 US dollars;
- from foreign citizens - 100 US dollars.
Note: For performing the action on legalization of documents and acts, interested individuals and legal entities are also charged fees for reimbursement of actual expenses in the amount of 20 US dollars.
