CBRN CoE holds Interregional Webinar
The Interregional webinar, organized by the Regional Secretariat of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CBRN CoE) for South East and Eastern Europe on “COVID-19 contact management: Best practice and country experience”, has been held within the framework of the European Union Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence Initiative (EU CBRN CoE), as well as the European Union Project 53 “Strengthening the National Legal Framework and Provision of Specialized Training on Bio-Safety and Bio-Security in Central Asian Countries”.
The event was attended by the State Committee of Industrial Safety, the Regional Secretariat of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CBRN CoE) for Central Asia, representatives of foreign organizations, Jumber Mamasakhlisi – expert on technical assistance, Dr Antonietta Filia from the Italian National Health Institute, Dr Ana Kasradze from the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (Georgia).
Participants of the webinar received information on contact tracing in the context of COVID-19, in particular the importance of contact tracing and its goals, classification based on the level of impact, examples and steps involved in this direction, about the necessary resources, lockdown or self-isolation, about digital tools for supporting traditional contact tracing, as well as the experience and best practices in this area from Italy and Georgia.
Within the framework of intra- and interregional cooperation, the Regional Secretariat for South-Eastern and Eastern Europe, in cooperation with the Regional Secretariat for Central Asia, plans to prepare and conduct webinars, priority for the partner countries of the above-mentioned Initiative. This approach plays an important role in combating natural outbreaks of infectious diseases and pandemics. Intra- and interregional activities will create useful advantages in overcoming chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear crises, especially in terms of the exchange of experience and knowledge, which is actively supported by the partner countries of the European Union and the above-mentioned European Union Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence Initiative in general.
The European Union Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence Initiative has been implemented in the Republic of Uzbekistan since 2015. Two projects, namely Project 53 “Strengthening the National Legal Framework and Provision of Specialized Training on Bio-Safety and Bio-Security in Central Asian Countries” and Project 65 “Strengthening chemical and biological waste management in Central Asia countries for improved security and safety risk mitigation”, are being implemented in the country within the framework of this initiative.
This year the European Union Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence Initiative is celebrating its 10th Anniversary.
