President: People who value their teachers are highly respected
Tashkent hosted a solemn ceremony dedicated to the celebration of October 1 – Teachers and Mentors Day.
At the beginning of his speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on behalf of the entire nation, sincerely congratulated workers in education and upbringing on this important holiday, expressing deep respect to them.
“We are representatives of a great and enlightened nation that has always revered the teacher, exalting him as a father. Take any of our outstanding ancestors, and you will see they all treated their teachers with the deepest respect. A society that honors its teachers will certainly prosper and develop. People who value their mentors are deeply respected in the world”, the Head of state emphasized.
The President noted that behind every significant deed, discovery, and achievement in life is the work, patience, and love of a teacher.
“Education is the most relevant of all spheres, school is the most important institution, and the profession of a teacher is the most noble of all professions. For me, a teacher is a person from whom light emanates. These people are always at the forefront of our time, patriots devoted to their homeland and their people. That is why our people trust teachers with the most valuable thing they have – the upbringing of their children”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The Head of state also emphasized that mentors’ wisdom and deep understanding of life inspire others to do good deeds and achieve success.
“Changing the consciousness and worldview of a person is the basis for changes in society. If society does not change, there will be no progress. But who can change people’s thinking and, consequently, the whole society? Who can educate new Beruni, al-Khwarizmi, and Fergani? Only you, teachers and mentors, can fulfill this great task, this truly historic mission”, the President said.
The President also noted that today, the youth of Uzbekistan achieve high results in international scientific Olympiads and sports competitions. These victories are, first of all, the result of the selfless work of teachers and mentors.
In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of September 27, a group of compatriots were awarded honorary titles, orders, and medals for significant contributions to the development of the education system, exemplary work in raising a healthy and harmoniously developed generation, and active participation in public life. The presentation of these awards took place at the solemn ceremony.
“True happiness is to earn respect for your work and enjoy honor among the people. This is especially true for teachers and mentors. May your dignity and position in society always be high, dear teachers”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.
Those who spoke on behalf of the awardees expressed sincere gratitude to the President for his attention to education and his high contribution to the development of teaching, as well as for recognizing their modest but significant contribution to the country’s future.
