The Central Election Commission met with representatives of the OSCE ODIHR and CIS election observation missions.
On 25 September this year, the Central Election Commission organized meetings with the participation of representatives of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS to observe the elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Councils (Kengashes) of People's Deputies.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, Z. Nizamkhodjaev, held meetings with the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Mission, Douglas Wake, ODIHR election analyst, Chris Taylor John and the Mission's experts, Dorota Rizha and Kakha Inaishvili.
Also in the afternoon, the Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), D.A. Trefilov, and the Head of the Mission Staff of the CIS Executive Committee, E.V. Kozyak, visited the Central Election Commission.
During the dialog, the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, Z. Nizamkhodjaev, referred to the work on the implementation of the recommendations from the reports and conclusions on the results of election observation missions conducted by international organizations in Uzbekistan into national legislation and practice, as well as the improvement of the legal framework for elections.
It was separately emphasized that the recommendations in the reports and conclusions of international organizations on the results of election observation missions serve to further improve the legislation on elections and referendums in Uzbekistan and to further increase the effectiveness of the practice of elections and referendums.
The Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, during the dialog with the representatives of the missions of the OSCE ODIHR and the Commonwealth of Independent States, provided detailed information on the conduct of elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Councils (Kengashes) of People's Deputies, which will be held on October 27 this year, on the basis of the mixed electoral system and its special features, the advantages of another innovation in national electoral practice - the information system “E-Saylov”.
In particular, it was noted that the election campaign is gaining momentum, that this responsible process is consistently coordinated by the Central Election Commission in accordance with the procedure laid down in the Election Code and that, in order to ensure the transparency of the work of preparing and conducting the elections, information on the procedure, stages and timetable of activities is communicated to voters and political parties primarily through the official website of the Central Election Commission and other media.
The dialog between the parties ended in a constructive and friendly manner. The Central Election Commission noted the readiness and openness for such dialogues to further strengthen mutual cooperation.
