On September 15, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who is in our country to participate in the SCO summit as an honorary guest.
Welcoming the distinguished guest in the ancient city of Samarkand, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that Uzbekistan appreciates the relations of friendship and cooperation with the fraternal people of Azerbaijan, which are based on common values, spiritual and cultural heritage.
In turn, the President of Azerbaijan expressed his deep gratitude for the invitation and warm welcome, and underscored that the relations of strategic partnership between the two fraternal countries have reached an unprecedentedly high level.

The two Presidents highly appreciated the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the growth of trade, and the successful implementation of cooperation projects in energetics, automotive industry, agriculture, cotton and silkworm breeding.
The Presidents have also expressed their support for further strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties. At the end of August, a number of cultural and scientific figures of the two countries were awarded high state awards of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the sides have thoroughly discussed the core tasks and defined further measures to deepen the Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership and practical cooperation. A schedule of forthcoming events, including the upcoming summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand, has been agreed upon.
