The President of Uzbekistan supports plans to develop cooperation with the International Automobile Federation

On December 9, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), led by its President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who is visiting the country to participate in the General Assembly of this prestigious organization taking place in Tashkent.
The delegation also included FIA Senate President Carmelo Sanz De Barros and FIA Deputy President for Automobile Mobility and Tourism Tim Shearman.

Current issues related to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with this global organization, which regulates motorsport and promotes road safety, were discussed.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem highly praised Uzbekistan’s large-scale reforms aimed at developing professional and mass sports, promoting a healthy lifestyle, increasing physical activity among the population, and nurturing a harmoniously developed younger generation.

The importance of close cooperation in developing the full spectrum of motorsport in Uzbekistan, from karting to formula racing, was emphasized.
Particular attention was given to supporting the federation in training Uzbek drivers, karting athletes, engineers, designers, and mechanics through the opportunities offered by the FIA University, creating modern motorsport infrastructure in Uzbekistan, implementing programs to ensure the safety of people and transport, and hosting international competitions under the auspices of the FIA, especially Formula 1 stages.

Following the meeting, in recognition of his significant personal contribution to strengthening cooperation with the International Automobile Federation and promoting motorsport in Uzbekistan in accordance with international standards, the Head of State presented the FIA President with a high state award – the Dustlik (Friendship) Order.
Uzbekistan has been an active member of the federation since 2019. Last year, the FIA General Assembly, marking its 120th anniversary, was held in Samarkand. As part of the current event, an awards ceremony for the best athletes and teams will be held on December 12 at the Humo Arena complex, featuring high-profile international guests and champion drivers.
