Presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan discuss current issues on the bilateral agenda

In the city of Dushanbe, a meeting was held between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
At the beginning of the conversation, the President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the President of Tajikistan on his fruitful chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and wished success in hosting the upcoming “Central Asia – Russia” Summit and the CIS Summit.
The current issues related to the expansion and strengthening of friendship, good neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were discussed.
They expressed deep satisfaction with the positive dynamics of the development of bilateral cooperation, noting the growing volume of trade and freight transportation as well as the increased frequency of air flights between the two countries.
Special attention was given to the adoption of coordinated measures aimed at increasing mutual trade and promoting cooperation projects in industry, energy, agriculture, and other priority areas.
The importance of continuing active cultural and humanitarian exchanges and maintaining productive interregional contacts was emphasized.
The presidents also held a thorough exchange of views on key issues of the international and regional agenda, including preparations for the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which will take place in Tashkent in November this year.
