This year, the award was conferred upon renowned Turkish biochemist, Nobel Laureate, and honorary doctor of the National University of Uzbekistan, Aziz Sancar.
On the occasion of the award, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, warmly congratulated Aziz Sancar and emphasized that presenting this prestigious prize to a representative of the scientific community would inspire scholars across the Turkic world, especially the younger generation, to reach new heights.
The Alisher Navoi Prize of the Organization of Turkic States, named after the prominent Uzbek thinker and statesman, was established at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan in 2021. It is awarded biennially for outstanding contributions to the promotion of Turkic culture, the preservation of peace, the advancement of security and trust, and the expansion of cooperation among Turkic peoples across various fields.
