The President of Uzbekistan attends the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the opening ceremony of the Fifth World Nomad Games in Astana.
The event, which took place in Astana Arena, was attended by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and other foreign guests.
Over 2,000 athletes from about 90 countries, including representatives of Uzbekistan, are participating in the tournament. Uzbekistan representatives will perform in sports such as kurash, olish, tug-of-war, archery, horse racing, strongman competitions, and others.
The participants were shown a theatrical performance dedicated to nomadic peoples’ rich culture and history, traditions, and customs.
Following the ceremony, the President of Uzbekistan departed for Tashkent. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov saw off the distinguished guest at Astana International Airport.
