Uzbekistan, France Presidents agree to develop a high-level comprehensive partnership
On November 22, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of France Emmanuel Macron held talks at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
The heads of state discussed in detail the issues of further building up the mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and France and agreed to bring the relations to a comprehensive high-level partnership.
The leaders noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of bilateral ties, the deepening of a broad political dialogue, the provision of mutual support within international organizations, the promotion of inter-parliamentary dialogue in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and France.
An interest was expressed in further strengthening bilateral cooperation in security, effective counteraction to emerging challenges and threats.
The importance of increasing trade-economic and investment cooperation, in particular, increasing the volume of trade turnover, the number of joint projects and programs involving advanced technologies, was emphasized.
The results of Uzbekistan – France business events held on the eve of the visit were highly appreciated. Trade-economic agreements and contracts worth over 6 billion euros were signed at the events.
The importance of the development of cultural-humanitarian ties was emphasized. The parties supported the opening of branches of the French Alliance in Samarkand, and welcomed the holding of the second Uzbekistan – France Educational Forum on November 27-28 this year in Paris. An agreement was reached on the development of cooperation in training French language teachers.
The heads of state exchanged views on the current international and regional issues.
The meeting was held in an open, warm and friendly atmosphere. Following the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Emmanuel Macron to visit Uzbekistan at any time convenient for him.
