SCO summit starts in Bishkek
Main events of Shanghai Cooperation Organization's Council of the Heads of State session kick start in the city of Bishkek.
Following the ceremony of joint photography, the heads of SCO member nations held a meeting in a contracted circle.
President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Zheenbekov, host of the summit meeting, opened the session. Heads of SCO member nations attended it.
Participants discussed enhancement of multilateral interaction among countries of the Organization.
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev also delivered a speech.
Our country is active party in the cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Initiatives voiced by Uzbekistan’s leader contribute to enhancing theinternational standing of this institution and expanding the scale of interaction.
For instance, at the last summit in Qingdao, China, in June 2018, the Appeal of the Heads of SCO Member States to the Youth and the action plan for its implementation were adopted. And in September that year, Tashkent played host to the first meeting of the heads of railway administrations of SCO countries. The Silk Road International University of Tourism has opened in Samarkand, and the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy was set up in Tashkent. Initiatives and their realization alike are abundant.
During this session Uzbekistan's President unveiled topical views and important initiatives designed to further improve the activities of the Organization, expand partnership in investments and innovation, digitilization, transport and communications, environment, in the promotion of agricultural technologies, tourism and humanitarian exchanges, as well as provision of regional security.
